The Virginia Medicaid plan offers health coverage at a no-cost or low-cost through our UnitedHealthcare Community Plan. This plan covers adults, people with disabilities, pregnant women, and children. If you qualify for both Virginia Medicaid and Medicare, we also have a Dual Special Needs Plan.

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Virginia - Cardinal Care

UnitedHealthcare and Virginia team up offer good quality healthcare coverage to keep families healthy.

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Virginia gives extra benefits that may not be covered by other plans. Our Cardinal Care Medicaid plan covers families, pregnant women, infants, children and adults who are eligible. It also offers extra support and care for adults and children with disabilities, long-term illnesses or special health care needs.

Dual Special Needs Plan

Dual Special Needs plans (also known as Dual Health plans or D-SNPs) are for people who have both Medicaid and Medicare. D-SNPs cover most doctor visits, hospital stays and prescription drugs. They offer many extra benefits beyond those you get with either original Medicare or Medicaid.

Individual & Family ACA plans

UnitedHealthcare offers Individual & Family ACA plans in Virginia. They’re designed to give you the coverage you need without breaking the bank.

Choose from plans in the Bronze, Silver and Gold metal levels. They each come with a variety of benefits, including reliable support from our customer service experts.

Eligibility

Virginia Medicaid offers Cardinal Care at no extra cost if you’re one of the following:

  • Pregnant women, children
  • Men and women between ages of 19-64
  • Adults with special health needs who don't qualify for Medicare

Enrollment

Every year, you can join or change your UnitedHealthcare Community plan of Virginia - Cardinal Care.

Sticks for Kicks Plus! is a new benefit from UnitedHealthcare® Community for members 18 and younger.

When you get a qualifying “stick” (shot), you’ll earn $50 gift cards from Foot Locker® and/or Walmart to buy “kicks” (shoes) and active wear.

If you get a second qualifying shot, you earn another $50 gift card (up to $100 total).
